Introduction

Darjeeling the hill city certainly is one of the most popular tourists’ destinations in west Bengal. The magnificent scenic beauty attracts countless tourists throughout the year. The brilliant view of sunrise from Tiger hills situated 11 km from Darjeeling is one of the greatest attractions for the visitors.

Tiger hill: Tiger hill is only 11 km from the main town. A visit to tiger hill is must for all the visitors who don’t want to miss the spectacular view of sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga.
Ghoom: Ghoom is located 2 km away from Darjeeling. Ghoom railway station is the highest (7,407 ft) railway station in India.
The Batasia loop: It is a beautiful spot 5 km away from Darjeeling. From here one can get a beautiful bird's-eye view of Darjeeling town with the snowy mountains in the background.
Rock Garden: Another great spot to visit. It is situated 10 km away from Darjeeling.
Ganga Maya Park: It’s about 3 km away from rock garden. It has a lake with boating facility available.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Darjeeling is from September to November or March to May. After November temperature starts falling drastically. During winter temperature sometime touches 0 degree centigrade. Also avoid traveling during monsoon as heavy downpour can make traveling and living condition dreary. Frequent landslide is also one major reason to avoid Darjeeling during rainy season.


How to reach?

By air : Nearest airport is Bagdogra situated about 95 km away from Darjeeling.
By train: Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) at Siliguri. NJP is directly connected to Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Guwahati and may other cities of India.
By road: Darjeeling is well connected to Siliguri by road. It takes about 4 hours by bus, taxi from Siliguri.

Darjeeling has plenty of standard hotels and Tenzing Norgay Youth Hostel. You will not fall sort of places to stay.
